Changelog

v0.2.0 is the version this page describes. It is unreleased: prepared and not yet tagged, so there is no build of it to download. What follows is what is new in it, then what it does.

Builds for all three platforms come from one automated job on the same commit. Checksums are written per platform when a version is tagged; that wiring is new and has not yet run. Only the Linux build has been launched by anyone, which the Download page says per platform rather than in the small print.

New in this release

A free plan, and Tilas Pro.

The free plan imports, repairs, paints, reduces colours and analyses, and exports up to four filaments on one plate; Separate runs there as a preview. Pro raises the export to sixteen filaments, exports separated parts and every plate at once. Commercial is Pro plus the right to sell prints. A locked action says what it needs and opens the pricing page, which has no price and no checkout until launch.

Pro is an optional licence key, not an account: activated once over the network, checked on your machine, renewed about once a month when it can be, and good offline for four months from the last renewal. Up to three machines, and you free one from the app.

It runs in a browser again.

The free plan opens at tilas.xyz/app with nothing to install and no account. Everything except the exact colour separation, which needs the native code in the desktop build, works there, and cancelling a long job works too.

The desktop app updates itself, when you say so.

A release build signed with the update key checks for a new version when it starts and once a day, and installs it only when you press Install. No such build has shipped yet, so going from one version to the next this way has never been tested.

Colour comes in with the model.

GLB and glTF are read now. A texture or vertex colours in a glTF, vertex colours in an OBJ, and colours in a PLY become paint on import, reduced to the number of colours you choose, with small specks merged and an option to snap to the filament colours you already have.

Repair you can drive by hand.

The Repair tool lists what is wrong with a part and offers each fix on its own: fill holes, remove shells below a size you set, fix inverted normals, or run the whole repair again. Each one is a step of undo, and paint stays on the faces that remain.

Three slicers, checked by slicing.

Each of PrusaSlicer 2.9.6, OrcaSlicer V2.4.2 and Bambu Studio V02.08.02.61 slices our exports with its own command-line tool, and the check reads the G-code for tool changes in the right order. Bambu Studio had opened nothing before this release.

Cancel works on Linux.

The Linux window has no shared memory for the usual cancel flag, so cancelling there stops the worker and starts a fresh one. A native separation is abandoned rather than interrupted: it finishes in the background and its result is thrown away.

Supports are hidden for launch.

The tool is built and nothing it makes has been printed and pulled off a real model, so it is off the tool bar, its shortcut and the command palette until that has happened.

Separate cuts on your paint.

Two colours meeting along a seam are cut on the paint boundary itself, in native code, with no grid and no boolean anywhere in the operation. The parts meet on a real surface instead of a staircase, and a flat boundary comes out flat.

Where that cannot be done exactly the model is divided on a grid instead, and the panel's first sentence says the grid size, what it means for the joint, and why the exact cut was unavailable. You are never handed the worse answer without being told.

A hollowed part prints in your colours.

The inner wall takes the colour of the outer surface nearest to it, so a hollowed model comes back painted inside rather than spending the default filament on every wall it was just given. A hollowed part used to come back mostly uncoloured, and now does not. There is a switch for a bare interior.

A part stays where you put it.

Move, rotate and scale the active part from the Select tool's fields — numbers, not a drag handle, and the scale is uniform on purpose, because a non-uniform one distorts every keyed connector. Where a part sits is part of the project: it survives save and reload, rides onto every export, and is what the plate preview and the exploded view measure. Undo covers it.

What it does

Read

STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, GLB and glTF, including painted 3MF whose colours survive being read back, and textures and vertex colours turned into paint.

Shipped

Repair

Fixes on import and reports what it changed, showing the model's state on arrival beside its state afterwards — now including faces that describe the same triangle twice, which no amount of hole-filling ever touched because there was no hole. The Repair tool offers each fix on its own. Crossing surfaces are found and reported, never fixed.

Shipped

Paint

Brush, mirror, painting through thin walls, box and lasso and bucket fills, height fill with a preview, and crease segmentation with an editable region map. Auto-paint grows each colour as a compact patch now, so the boundary settles where you would cut the model by hand.

sixteen filaments

Shape

Cuts with keyed connectors — and where the cut face has no room for the key you chose, the cut is still made and the halves come back without keys, with the reason. Separates a painted model into one solid per colour, hollows to a wall thickness you type, and batches parts across plates. Supports are built and hidden for launch.

Shipped

Export

Painted 3MF in three dialects. All three slicers slice ours and the paint arrives in G-code as tool changes in the right order — checked by reading the G-code rather than by the file opening without complaint. Up to four filaments on one plate on the free plan; sixteen, separated parts and every plate with Pro.

PrusaSlicer 2.9.6 · OrcaSlicer V2.4.2 · Bambu Studio V02.08.02.61

Save

Saves projects atomically, autosaves on its own, and offers to restore after a crash. The project is a database now, so a save is one transaction and saving over the same file again writes only the meshes it does not already hold. Projects written by the previous version still open.

Shipped

Run

A desktop application on Windows, macOS and Linux, offline, with no account, and a free browser version that does everything except the exact colour separation, which lives in native code a tab cannot host.

Linux watched

Fixed

Bugs found by running real files and real sessions rather than by reading code — which is most of the ones that mattered.

Known gaps

The Windows and macOS builds have never been launched, nothing is signed, the updater has never carried a real update, Pro cannot be bought until launch, Supports are hidden until something they made has been printed, six of the category's fourteen tools are not built, Separate has never been pressed in a real window, and the in-app bug report still has nowhere public to send you.
